Brigette led the pledge.

Visiting Rotarian from Tiburon told about his club’s project providing Ebola supplies:
-buckets for hand washing
-face masks
-garbage bags to use for protection
or basically the same thing the hospital in TX was using

Good news - don’t have to guess what’s in Rotary mag this year but bad news - do have to learn spanish!  We can now all order up to seis (6) cerveza (beers).  Thank you Susan

Good news
Tom - missed flight from FL had to spend extra day spoiling grandkids.
Grandkids must have gone easy on him as he was still able to give a bell ringer!
He was also able to help his son celebrate his birthday (41st) for the first time in several years.  For his Rotary gift he brought back a beer glass from either (insert much confusion at the meeting here) the Pittsburg Pirates  or the Pirates of the Caribbean-Disneyworld.

Jim - sorry, missed a bit of the story trying to listen, type and eat at the same time (hey I’m not a stenographer you know) but the general gist of it was that Jim’s entire family got together in Morro Bay to kick it Carriere-style to celebrate the birthdays of his mother and son.  Jim’s brother even flew out for the occasion.  Joe turned 18 (stay tuned for future bad news from Jim along the lines of Joe:  “hey I’m an adult now and you can’t tell me what to do”, followed by Jim:  “the hell I can’t, as long as you’re living under my roof...yada,yada,yada”  Mom’s age not given but figuring that she lived through Jim’s adolescence, she has certainly earned any gray hairs she might have.

Carola spent a wonderful day in Calistoga celebrating her daughter’s birthday from the week before.  Love when you can stretch out a birthday like that!  Sounds wonderful.

Jennifer landed her first sponsorship contract for the Pacifics.  The Four Points Sheraton is now the official hotel for the team.  Congratulations Jennifer!

Stacie has been attending a vocal workshop along with 5 others and they will be doing a live performance on November 10 at 6 p.m. at the Seahorse in Sausalito.  Please come out and support her and her group.  For all you old timers, the Seahorse is the old Saylor’s Landing and it was something else before that in the 80’s - Gate 5 Road???.  Can’t remember but probably did seehorses there at some point, the rest of the details are a little fuzzy - maybe it will come back on Nov. 10.

Aref had some trouble filling the U-haul with books.  That whole volume thing is tricky, have had that same problem with tupperware.  BUT, he was able to work it out with
U-haul and they let him use a small corner of their parking lot (or maybe he just thumbed his nose in defiance) to shuffle the books around to 2 trucks in order to get them to the container.  Taking a cue from the 4-way test, he did not deck the U-haul guy for his lack of helpfulness.  Thank you Aref for your cool head and for always making our club look so good.  Your projects reflect well on all of us and we appreciate your efforts.  Thanks also to CenterPoint for the manpower they provided to pack the books.

Hugh - once again, inside joke - not sure if everyone got the reference but something about rival football teams, one winning big and one losing face.  Some rubbing of noses in it, etc. Think Stacie’s team won and Hugh’s lost but not sure.  Regardless, it was a brutal 59-0.

Announcements
Jim announced  details of the Marin Senior Fair to all of the folks that were volunteering to help with parking.

John kicked the (polio) can

Susan’s birthday is today but celebrating next year - way to s-t-r-e-t-c-h it out!  Go Girl!!

Photo contest still open to entries.  G-rated, 4-way test need only apply.

Next week’s program is on vocational service, speaker Gloria Violin

John Bottari upcoming speaker on all things Rotary.  Not telling you the exact date so you can’t ditch.

Tom - day at the races, November 15, give Cindy 40/ticket if you want to go.
Oops! As you read this (or not) it is too late to go, deadline had passed.  Sorry...
GG Fields gives portion of ticket to RI.  This is a multi club event, every district in the area as far north as Sacramento will be represented - except you of course if you don’t have a ticket.

Susan asked for volunteer to represent our club at Pickleweed Comm Ctr on Saturday at 10 am.  Millie volunteered to go see what we are supposed to be doing there.   City wants to communicate better with the community and could start with being more specific re what the meeting is about.  Thanks Millie for taking time on your weekend.

On a serious note, this was a very important day as Alex Scott was installed as our newest member.  Her mother Carol sponsored her into the club and she was welcomed by Millie, our Membership Chair.  Millie noted that Alex had just gained 1.4 million new friends around the world.  I recommend sending an e-card to them for the holidays as the postage on that would be out of hand.  Carol is delighted to have her join us and so are we.  It is already evident what a dedicated member and hard worker she is.  Alex is really excited to join and thankfully is a Giants fan - Go Giants!  Welcome Alex!!!

Good news from Susan that we have an application from Nick Curry that has been ACCEPTED by the board and is waiting to be APPROVED by the membership at large.
No need to send an email unless you have some dirt on Nick.

Also have application from Aref’s friend (insert name I did not catch), the owner of the rug store on 4th Street.

Susan asked that everyone please go to the website and fill out their biographies so that all your deepest darkest secrets could be known to the club.  Don’t worry, we won’t tell - it will be in the Harbor “vault”.  But really, please do add your info as the district is going to make good on their decade long promise to publish a vocational directory and you won’t want to miss the opportunity to be included.  Personal info will only be available to Harbor members, vocational info to be shared with district.  Send your info to Susan and she will make sure it gets posted.

Everyone had their pin on so no one had to do the walk of shame.  Good job everyone.

Aref held the winning raffle ticket for the drawing for $135.  He did not get the clear marble so the pot carries forward.  Also going forward, Stacie unknowingly volunteered to be in charge of shaking up the raffle tickets so they are more evenly distributed.  So no more coming in late and thinking you’re going to get the winning ticket!!
