The Davidson Middle School Health Hub started on Monday, November 3rd and will continue every Monday after school.  See photographs in the "photo album" on the left hand side of the Harbor Rotary home page.

We wanted to share some wonderful photos of the successful kick-off of the weekly Health Hub Food Pantry at Davidson Middle School in the Canal area of San Rafael. This program is facilitated by LIFT-Levántate in partnership with the Marin/SF Food Bank and the school administration and supported by Kaiser Permanente, San Rafael Harbor Rotary and Whole Foods San Rafael.

30 teens in the LEAP afterschool program worked as a team to assemble 150 bags of healthy fruits and vegetables, fresh dairy, whole grains and bilingual cookbooks for their peers to take home and share with their families.  This was an exciting example of hands-on engaged learning, food justice, collaboration and fun!

In addition to the healthy food distribution Monday, there was nutrition education and peer-led physical activity.  Additional school Health Hub activities include on-campus health screenings and education, nutrition and cooking education in the outdoor kitchen LIFT and its partners built in the school garden, peer advocacy, campus greening and more.

Thank you all for your support and interest in this meaningful, school-based student program.
