Youth Transforming Justice

Youth Transforming Justice has been keeping youth in school and out of the juvenile justice system for 22 years. We believe the best way to end the school-to-prison pipeline is to transform traditional, punitive school discipline and juvenile justice systems into restorative, trauma-informed, and peer-driven solutions where youth can reflect and learn from mistakes, repair damage and relationships harmed, and move forward successfully.

Don Carney has worked in the fields of juvenile and social justice for over fifty years. He is the founder and Executive Director of Youth Transforming Justice. He has chaired Marin’s Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Commission for over twenty years, and he also serves on the Restorative Justice Committee of the California Juvenile Justice Commission. Don trains communities and schools in the practice of providing restorative trauma informed alternatives to suspension and juvenile incarceration.
