Jim Schutz has been the City Manager for the City of San Rafael since August, 2015. He was previously Assistant Manager since 2007. He has worked in management roles for cities as small as 20,000 people and as large as over 1,000,000. Jim has a BA in Environmental Studies from UC Santa Barbara and a Master's Degree in City and Regional Planning from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Between college and graduate school Jim served two years in the Peace Corps.
