Konojel, a US 501c3 & Registered Nonprofit in Guatemala Helping People Move Toward Self-sufficiency

Konojel (which means "all together" in the Mayan language Kaq'chikel) strives to create and support platforms through which underserved individuals and families can move themselves toward self-sufficiency. The speaker has led a team of mostly Mayan indigenous women as they developed programs that serve linch 5 days a week to 80 children and adults considered most at risk of malnutrition. Konojel has also established an after-school program for elementary school children and created a job-training program for single Moms. It has also opened a computer center with educational technology available to all students in the local village and started a restaurant staffed by local women with profits supporting these programs.
