Harbor Rotary Welcomes Matthew Edwards. Matthew is a 38 year old resident of Fairfax, CA and is the CEO of CircleCenter which is also based in Fairfax, CA. When asked during the interview process what three words Matthew would use to describe himself, he responded with: adaptable, creative and open-hearted. In the short time the GSE team has had to begin to develop...Matthew has already shown these traits to be true! Harbor Rotary has accepted sponsorship of this young man for this precious experience exchanging with Brazil! Without a doubt, this experience will affect Matthew's life in ways we can imagine!
Matthew has a diverse background in the areas of financial systems, internet technology, and community economic development.
Matthew has worked for 15 years as a business consultant for small and large companies, including Chase Manhattan Bank, AT&T, Google.org and others.
Matthew is also the Executive Director of Circlecenter, a non-profit company in Fairfax, CA that builds community economic networks through investment projects with positive social and environmental impact.
Matthew was born in Zimbabwe, the son of British Parents, and moved to Virginia at age 6. He graduated from the University of Virginia in 1994, with degrees in Computer Science and Spanish. His hobbies include nature, music, economics, and meditation.
District 5150 (SF Bay Area) will be exchanging with District 4590 (Campinas, Brazil) in the 2011-2012 Group Study Exchange.
Campinas, Brazil is located in the State of Sao Paolo and is considered to be the 'Silicon Valley' of Brazil. District 5150 will be sending a team of four young professionals and one Rotarian team leader on the experience of a lifetime to Campinas, Brazil from MAY 14, 2011 through JUNE 11, 2011.
Group Study Exchange (GSE) is a unique exchange opportunity for team members to experience the host country's culture and institutions, observe how their vocations are practiced abroad, develop personal and professional relationships, and exchange ideas.
