Youth Transforming Justice
Apr. 14, 2026 8:00 a.m.
Youth Transforming Justice has been keeping youth in school and out of the juvenile justice system for 22 years. We believe the best way to end the school-to-prison pipeline is to transform traditional, punitive school discipline and juvenile justice systems into restorative, trauma-informed, and peer-driven solutions where youth can reflect and learn from mistakes, repair damage and relationships harmed, and move forward successfully. Don Carney has worked in the fields of juvenile and social justice for over fifty years. He is the founder and Executive Director of Youth Transforming Justice. He has chaired Marin’s Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Commission for over twenty years, and he also serves on the Restorative Justice Committee of the California Juvenile Justice Commission. Don trains communities and schools in the practice of providing restorative trauma informed alternatives to suspension and juvenile incarceration. |

First Responder Therapy Dogs
Jun. 09, 2026 8:00 a.m.
First responders are our everyday heroes, bravely facing immense physical and mental challenges. From firefighters to paramedics, dispatch centers, law enforcement, and search and rescue personnel, these brave individuals often confront extreme stress, PTSD, depression, and even suicidal impulses. First Responder Therapy Dogs provides trained therapy dogs that offer emotional support directly to on-duty heroes. Research shows they reduce stress, lower blood pressure, and elevate mood—helping first responders focus on their communities while caring for themselves. In 2025 alone, they reached over 70,000 first responders nationwide. The organization has more than 500 certified therapy dog teams, spanning 46 states, from Alabama to Wisconsin. |
